Why verification matters

LeyApp is committed to connecting clients with genuine, qualified legal professionals. Every lawyer on the platform goes through a multi-step verification process before their profile goes live.

Our verification system uses multiple independent checks — bar association records, official email verification, government ID scanning, and name cross-referencing — to ensure that when you see a "Verified" badge, you can trust it.

How verification works

1. The lawyer registers on LeyApp and provides their bar association membership number (colegiado number). We automatically check this against the bar association's public census when available.
2. They verify their bar membership — either instantly via their official bar email (e.g., @icab.cat, @icam.es) or by uploading their bar association card.
3. They verify their identity — either through an automated ID scan with selfie (powered by Stripe Identity) or by uploading a photo of their government ID (DNI, NIE, or passport).
4. Our system cross-references the name on their government ID with their bar association records and profile to prevent impersonation. All names must match.
5. If all checks pass and names match, the lawyer is verified automatically. If there are discrepancies, our team reviews the application manually (usually within 24 hours).

Verification methods

LeyApp offers multiple ways to verify, so lawyers can choose the fastest path that works for them. The entire process typically takes 3-5 minutes.

Available methods

• Official bar email verification — Instant verification for lawyers with @icab.cat, @icam.es, or other official bar email addresses.
• Bar card upload — Upload a photo of your bar association membership card for manual review.
• Automated ID scan + selfie — Scan your government ID and take a quick selfie. Uses Stripe Identity for automated document verification and face matching.
• Manual ID upload — Upload a photo of your DNI, NIE, or passport for manual review.
• Automated census lookup — For ICAB (Barcelona) and ICAM (Madrid) lawyers, we automatically verify your colegiado number against the bar association's public directory.

Data protection & GDPR

LeyApp operates in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Spanish Organic Law on Data Protection (LOPDGDD). Your personal data is processed securely and only for the purposes necessary to provide our services.

We never sell your data to third parties. Personal information is stored in secure, encrypted databases located in EU data centers (Paris region).

Verification documents are automatically deleted 7 days after verification is complete. Only the verification status and date are retained — not the documents themselves.

Payment security

All transactions on LeyApp are processed through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We accept credit/debit cards, Bizum, and Klarna (buy now, pay later). Your payment details are never stored on our servers — they are handled entirely by Stripe's secure infrastructure.

LeyApp is a technology platform, not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice or legal services directly. All legal advice and professional responsibility lies exclusively with the independent lawyers registered on the platform.
